The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is the heart of Aotearoa New Zealand’s cyber defence. We fulfil the cyber security responsibilities of the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki, and provide cyber security services to all New Zealanders – from individuals and small businesses and organisations up to large enterprises, government, and critical national infrastructure.
The roleWe are on the lookout for a System Admin/Engineer with Splunk experience to join our specialised, supportive team based in Blenheim!
The role is key to the operational support of Linux and Windows environments and works across the full spectrum from physical devices, virtualisation, operating systems and application support.

We are looking for a team player who is enthusiastic, adaptable and enjoys a challenge. You'll understand the need for policy and processes and have a process improvement mindset.
Demonstrated experience in Splunk configuration and management will be key for this role. In addition to your Splunk experience you will also ideally bring:
Level 1- At least 3 years’ relevant experience in the computing or IT industry
- Infrastructure management skills and experience in at least one of: backup and recovery management, virtualisation technologies, computer scripting skills would be a bonus!
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the computing or IT industry
- Infrastructure management skills and experience in virtualisation technologies, backup and recovery management
- System skills and experience including:
Active Directory/LDAP, DNS, scripting, understanding of Databases and Certificates
- Level 1 $87,048 – $92,852

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you’re eligible for employment.
You must:
- Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
OR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
- Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance – ordinarily, this means you’ll have a 15‑year checkable background in countries where NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
Salary Band G $87,048 (90%) – $111,228 (115%) and Band H $103,009 (90%) – $131,622 (115%). Midpoint of the salary range (100%) reflects full competence in the role.
