Data Center Network Engineer

As a Data Center Network Engineer, you’ll make an impact by ensuring enterprise IP networks are highly reliable, scalable, and optimized to support mission‑critical applications and data center operations. You will enhance network resilience, improve performance and capacity, and strengthen connectivity across routing, switching, SD‑WAN, and load‑balancing platforms. By partnering closely with cross‑functional infrastructure teams, you’ll drive high availability, reduce operational risk, and enable business growth.

You will be a valued member of the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and work collaboratively with the Infrastructure Operations Specialist.

• Design, configure, and support large‑scale enterprise routing and switching environments.
• Implement and troubleshoot routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, VRRP, HSRP, and MPLS.
• Configure BGP in dual ISP environments to support redundancy and load balancing.
• Deploy and maintain Cisco routers and switches, including Nexus platforms.
• Administer and support SD‑WAN solutions, specifically Fortinet environments.
• Configure and maintain Cisco Meraki switching and wireless infrastructure.
• Implement and support load balancing solutions using F5 and Radware platforms.
• Perform network capacity planning, performance monitoring, and optimization.
• Apply QoS/CoS policies, traffic shaping, and bandwidth management strategies.
• Support DNS/DHCP services using Blue Cat.
• Utilize network monitoring and analysis tools such as Gigamon, Infinistream, Splunk, and Netscout to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Contribute to automation initiatives through basic scripting.

• 8+ years of hands‑on experience with Cisco routing and switching.
• 5+ years of experience with enterprise load balancers (F5 and/or Radware).
• 5+ years of experience supporting SD‑WAN solutions, preferably Fortinet.
• 3+ years of experience with Cisco Meraki infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of Layer 2, Layer 3, and Layer 4 networking concepts.
• Experience with TCP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, REST, SOAP, NFSv
  4.x, and SMB protocols.
• Hands‑on experience with Blue Cat DNS/DHCP.

• Experience using network analysis tools such as Gigamon, Infinistream, Splunk, Netscout.
• Basic scripting skills for automation Python, Bash, or similar preferred.
• Experience in network capacity planning and performance management.
• Proven experience configuring and deploying enterprise network switches and routers.

The annual salary for this position is between $79,000 - $92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
