Organizational Relationship or Line of Authority:

Directly responsible to the Registration Center and Translation Services Manage rand throughhim/her to the Superintendent of Schools

Statement of Duties:

• Responsible for written and oral translation of school documents, including, but not limited to,
  • School communication to families
  • Teacher/parent communication
  • Individual Education Plans
  • District-wide school messenger
  • Aiding administration in parent outreach
• Ensures all "school to home" communications are translated appropriately.
• Maintains electronic data base of all translations
• Aids in translation for parents registering in the Parent Outreach Center
• Supports the Administrative Assistant in the Registration and Parent Outreach Center
• Be flexible to attend evening parent open houses and conferences outsideofregular working hours as needed.
• Assumes other duties as may be assigned by the Building Administrators

Qualifications:

• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Hatian Creole
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable car to travel between schools during the work day
• Qualified Tier 2 or Tier 3 Interpreter in the Education Settingpreferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Strong interpersonal skills as he or she deals directly with the public on a daily basis
• Must be able to work well as part of a team
• Must be self-motivated, flexible, very well organized
• Required to work 10 evening events per fiscal year.
• Flexibility to attend additional evening events in addition to the 10 evening events required.
• Must be detailed oriented, with analytical and problem solving skills, along with customer service abilities and other related characteristics
• Be familiar with computers and computer software programs particularly Excel and Microsoft Office including Microsoft Outlook. Ability with data base programs such as Aspen are a plus. Be familiar with using the Internet.
• Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the Communications Coordinator, Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools/ Executive Director(s) may find appropriate and acceptable.
