The Junior Laboratory Technician supports R&D and crystal growth activities by maintaining laboratory cleanliness, assisting with operation of crystal growth furnaces, performing routine furnace recharge and maintenance tasks, and completing required documentation. This is an entry-level position designed for candidates early in their technical careers who are interested in laboratory research, materials development, and pilot production environments.

The technician works under close supervision of engineers and senior technicians and follows established procedures to support safe, reliable, and repeatable crystal growth experiments and pilot runs.

Duties
  • Furnace unloading and loading.
  • Batching raw material.
  • Keeping very accurate log of activities performed.
  • Preventative maintenance of furnace and lab equipment.
  • Assist with the building of new custom furnace and related lab equipment.
  • Perform lab cleaning on a regular schedule (sticky mat replacement, empty trash and mopping of lab floors)
  • Properly record information.
  • Make adjustments to parameters.
  • Carefully follow all industrial procedures and working instructions.
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs.
  • Weekend shifts may be necessary.
Requirements
  • Technical school graduate or Associate’s degree, plus industry experience.
  • Minimum 1 year experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge of hand tools, light power tools.
  • Competence with the use of measurement tools, gauges.
  • Attention to detail and to effectively retain the communicated information.
  • The ability to follow the guidance from group lead and engineers.
  • The strong ability to be neat, accurate and consistent with work.
  • Capable to work well independently assuming responsibility for own work.
  • Preferred experience with furnace equipment, electrical equipment.
  • Preferred experience working in a lab environment.
  • Proficiency in lab notebook documentation.
  • Capable of using standard PC software (Office
    365, etc.)

The pay range on this posting applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location posted, the applicable range could differ. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
