Boiler and Starch Room Operator

Marlborough, MA 01752
Salary Range: $30.00 - $35.60 hourly
Responsibilities- Safely operate the boilers, steam, condensate, make-up water, and similar systems to minimize waste and maximize efficiency
- Maintain and troubleshoot above systems. This includes all steam and condensate flows, valves, pumps, and controls. Specific areas to be monitored on a continuous basis include boilers (water level and operation), feed water pumps, chemical feed system, water softener, dryers, turbine, and line shaft operation
- Make batches of starch and verify starch quality
- Operate water treatment equipment
- Work cooperatively with the production team to meet quotas and goals
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Observe all safety guidelines and report safety concerns to management
- Follow all written and verbal instructions
- Attend all safety and production trainings
- Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude
- Able to work overtime as needed, including nights and weekends
- Massachusetts 3rd Class Engineer's License
- Industrial Class 2 Wastewater Treatment License (or ability to be trained and pass the test)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years experience working in industrial production is strongly preferred
- Flexible schedule and willingness to work on different shifts preferred
- Must be available for weekends/occasional overtime
- Capable of reading and understanding production documents and safety manuals
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills
- Basic computer skills
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to comply with all safety guidelines at all times
- Physically capable of manual labor that includes lifting, bending, and reaching
- Able to operate large industrial machinery
- Able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Able to work 8 hour shifts standing
- Reliable and punctual
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, and use senses to diagnose and troubleshoot problems. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
WorkEnvironment
The work environment includes moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, wet and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate.
