The Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School, a demanding college preparatory charter school, seeks to hire committed, skilled, and inspiring educators. AMSA is committed to preparing all students to succeed in college and beyond. Located in Marlborough, MA, AMSA includes 6th through 12th grade classes.

AMSA is accepting applications for a part-time School Nurse for the  school year.

• Develop and implement health promotion initiatives and educational programs to promote student health and wellness.
• Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and community partners to develop curriculum-based health education activities and resources.
• See to the day-to-day care of acute issues.
• Health education tailored to individual students will be created in partnership with the District Nurse Leader.
• Follows district policies and maintains health office policies in day-to-day activities
• Observes and assesses students to determine individual health needs and provides care based on those observations/assessments
• Administer medications in accordance with physician orders and school guidelines.

• Oversee the implementation of health assessments and screenings to identify student health needs and risks.
• Coordinate with healthcare providers and community agencies to ensure access to appropriate healthcare services and resources.
• Provides screenings, BMI, hearing, vision, and postural (training is available), in accordance with MA State guidelines

• Develop and implement care plans for students with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies.
• Provide training and support to school staff on managing emergency situations and administering medication as needed.
• Observes and assesses students to determine individual health needs and provides care based on those observations/assessments
• Care plans for seizures, asthma, diabetes, and life-threatening allergies.

• Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans and protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff during medical emergencies, natural disasters, or other crises.
• Coordinate with local emergency responders and healthcare providers to enhance response capabilities.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records for all students, including immunization records, medical histories, and treatment plans.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding health recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
• Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students and reports any discrepancies

• Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders to address health-related concerns and promote a culture of health and safety within the school community.
• Serve as a liaison between the school district, healthcare providers, government agencies, and community organizations.
• Collaborates with and reports to the District School Nurse to ensure consistent communication and timely and appropriate implementation of student health needs.
• Collaborates and job share with other part-time Nurse to accommodate the needs of the health office.

• Current MA RN Nursing license
• Current Certification in CPR AED, First Aid
• Proficiency in electronic health records such as SNAP/Health Office
• Experience in school nursing or substitute school nursing
• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• BSN preferred
• Any school nursing education/workshops is a plus

• At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
• Bachelor degree preferred.
