Associate Investigator

DuPont's Electronics & Industrial (E&I) Electronic & Industrial Finishing (EIF) business is seeking a talented, eager-to-learn associate investigator to join the Research and Development (R&D) team in Marlborough, MA. The EIF team develops and commercializes industry-leading metallization products that deliver enhanced performance for diverse electronics markets. This role is suited for individuals with experience in electrochemistry, electroplating, formulation, and material/device testing.

You will work with a team of scientists and engineers developing and improving chemistries and processes within the metallization research platform. This candidate's primary responsibilities will include supporting the R&D team in delivering technical milestones within the established timelines. Technical direction will come from experienced project leaders and technical leaders within EIF, who will assist as needed with prioritization, planning, and communication of project deliverables.

This role will require hands-on lab work, including electroplating, wet chemistry formulation, chemical analysis, and device functional testing. This role demands strong interpersonal relationships with team members and requires good communication and analytical processing of experimental data. The successful candidate will also commit to our core safety values and ethical conduct.

Responsibilities:

  • Adept at hands-on lab work, creative thinking, and problem solving in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Conduct experiments and evaluations independently. Assume responsibility for executing project workflows, including electroplating, wet chemistry formulation, chemical analysis, and device functional testing.
  • Collaborate with R&D and other functions to successfully deliver against project goals and timelines.
  • Clearly and concisely communicate research to team members of varying technical backgrounds.
  • Ensure compliance with personal and process safety practices, product integrity, and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications:

  • Required:

    A bachelor's or master's degree in a scientific or engineering field. Strong bias for action. Well-organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven team player. Commit to our core safety values and ethical conduct. Good written and verbal communication skills. English fluency.
  • Strongly Preferred: 1-2 years of hands-on experience in the chemical industry or a similar environment. Experience with a diverse range of analytical equipment, including SEM, XRF, XRD, wet chemical techniques, and surface analysis methods. Familiarity with electroplating techniques and electrochemistry. Hands-on experience in electroplating. Curiosity and excitement to learn about the electronics industry. Experience with application testing of electronic devices. Experience with corrosion science or surface science.

    Experience with Lean Six Sigma or certification.
