Job Description & How to Apply Below
Synthetic Chemist
Are you a Synthetic Chemist who is a team player, adept at problem-solving, and interested in working on new materials development in the exciting and fast-paced field of electronic materials? We are seeking a highly talented chemist who will join a team that is primarily exploring and developing lithographic materials for advanced patterning solutions in the semiconductor industry. This is a laboratory-based technical role focused on the synthesis, purification, and characterization of polymers and organic small molecules.
Detail-oriented team contributors are encouraged to apply.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Hands-on Organic Synthesis: Partner with industry-leading senior scientists to synthesize polymers from laboratory gram-scale up to several hundred grams. Synthesize simple small molecule monomers using standard organic chemistry techniques.
- Characterize Products: Use analytical tests to characterize products and ensure final product quality.
- Robust Documentation: Document experiments and help in the preparation of technology transfer packages.
- Zero-Incident Mindset: Maintain full compliance with all departmental and site-specific Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality regulations, systems, and procedures covering laboratory and scale-up activities. Perform routine lab maintenance to keep area clean and orderly, as well as maintaining material database, inventory database, and ordering chemical reagents from suppliers.
Required:
- Educational Background: B.S. or M.S in Chemistry, or comparable experience in polymer chemistry and organic synthesis.
- Technical Experience: Experience with general laboratory techniques such as reaction set-ups, precipitation, filtration, Schlenk techniques, distillation, closed transfer, crystallization, rotary evaporators, and vacuum pumps/ovens. Ability to perform analysis of compounds and reaction mixtures using common methods (such as GPC, MALDI, HPLC, MS, UV/VIS, FT-IR, NMR, TLC, IR, GC-MS).
- Team Collaboration: Excellent organizational skills and accuracy in experimental documentation. Good communication skills and willingness to participate in team discussions. Thrives in a team environment of shared goals and responsibilities.
- Safety Oriented: Demonstrates safe behavior in the laboratory with a demonstrated ability to evaluate safety risks and reactivity concerns in multigram scale multi-step organic synthesis.
