Position: Network Engineer (Onsite)

Responsibilities
  • Maintain smooth operation of voice and data networks; plan, evaluate, coordinate, and perform installation and/or re‑configuration of hardware and software components of data and voice communication networks.
  • Develop technical expertise in all areas of voice and data network hardware and software interconnection, including switches, routers, firewalls, authentication servers and encryptors.
  • Work with network management software platforms.
  • Propose solutions to management to meet future communications requirements and current usage, configuring solutions to optimize cost savings, redundancy and required network uptime.
  • Prepare or ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions, technical diagrams, and other documentation; assist in developing documentation when none exists.
  • Provide regular monitoring and network analysis for short‑ and long‑range planning of in‑house systems.
  • Assist with coordination of third‑party maintenance for network equipment or with vendors for third‑party support.
  • Willingly and readily work outside normal business hours (evenings and weekends) as needed.
  • Work under general supervision and follow established procedures.
  • Apply Network Engineering skills to defense‑oriented programs; obtain Security+ certification within 6 months and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) within a year (highly desired).
Required Qualifications
  • University degree and minimum 2 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree.
  • U.S. citizenship; only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience in configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and/or intrusion detection systems, including software upgrades.
  • Active, in‑scope and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance required prior to start date; clearance must be active on day 1.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Security+ certification within 6 months and CCNA within a year (highly desired).
  • Experience with Cisco ISE (802.1X), Solar Winds, and setting up client‑server environments for government networks.
  • Experience with current cabling and fiber standards.
  • Experience with access‑control lists, security posture, and vendor best practices.
  • Experience with Visio diagramming and design capabilities.
  • 1–2 years of experience with network management software.
  • Willingness and availability to travel domestically as needed.
  • Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of encryption devices.
  • Effective customer service skills, including oral and written communications.
  • Experience with platforms such as IP telephony, NTP servers, Gem One, and Solar Winds.
  • Ability to work under time constraints.
  • Experience with classified computing, STIG compliance, and network refreshes.
  • Current DoD Top Secret level security clearance.
