Job Requirements

Hold a New Jersey Instructional K-6 Certification (Standard) and TOSD Certification (Standard).

OR Hold a New Jersey Instructional Elementary K-6 Certificate (CE or CEAS) with the intention of completing an Alternate Route Program and becoming certified in NJ Special Education (TOSD).

OR hold a Teacher of Handicapped certification.

Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of elementary curriculum, development, and program evaluation and show evidence of how the content can be organized into lessons for elementary students.

Demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills and the ability to motivate and instruct students.

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.

Demonstrate enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.

Showcase expertise and experience in using 21st Century based/Web 2.0 technology tools and protocols.

Autistic Support Professional Staff are required to work a 10 month and 30 day ESY contract.

Job Description

The Special Education Middle School Teacher (Autistic Support) at Y.A.L.E. School assumes the professional responsibility for providing learning experiences in English and supervising assigned students in a safe, supportive, and positive classroom climate. The teacher develops skills, attitudes, and knowledge in each student to meet and exceed the New Jersey Department of Education's Student Learning Standards, following the approved curricula and directives of the school.

Collaboratively working with other members of the school staff and parents, the teacher strives to meet the highly effective criteria for lesson planning, data‑driven instruction, quality instruction delivery, and differentiation to address the needs of diverse learners.

Y.A.L.E. School provides a positive approach to learning for students with disabilities aged 3 to 21, who require a specialized setting to benefit from education.
