About the Role
GFT is seeking an experienced Stormwater Engineer to join our Transportation Group in the tri‑state (NY/NJ/CT) area. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at one of our NYC, NJ, or CT offices.
Responsibilities- Design highway and railroad drainage systems and Green Infrastructure/stormwater management facilities.
- Perform hydrologic watershed modeling.
- Develop hydraulic models for bridge and culvert replacements.
- Conduct bridge scour analyses and design scour countermeasures.
- Develop construction plans.
- Prepare environmental permit applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer license in NY, NJ, and/or CT or the ability to obtain one with reciprocity.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in stormwater engineering for roadway and/or rail projects preferred.
- Proficiency in Micro Station, StormCAD, Pond Pack, HEC‑RAS, Excel, and Word.
- Direct experience completing projects with public sector/municipal agencies in Greater New York, New Jersey, and/or Connecticut.
- Experience securing permits from environmental agencies authorizing floodplain impacts, wetland impacts, and erosion & sediment control designs.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Range: $90,000 – $125,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
