Water Treatment Design Engineer

Join GFT's Water team to lead and support design, optimization, and management of systems that treat and transport drinking water, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance.

• System Design: Design water treatment plants and pumping stations, including detailed CAD drawings and equipment selection. Design new treatment systems or upgrade existing ones.
• Process Optimization: Analyze and enhance treatment techniques to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• System Hydraulics: Perform hydraulic analysis of existing and new plants, pump stations, and piping systems; select pumps and evaluate performance.
• Testing and Monitoring: Analyze lab data, operator reports, and chemical usage to resolve operational issues.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure treated water meets regulatory standards, protecting public health and the environment.
• Project Management: Conduct feasibility studies, upgrade infrastructure, and manage projects from design to completion, including cost projections and supervising construction or commissioning.
• Data Analysis: Monitor operator reports and lab results to refine treatment techniques.
• Technical: Serve as a technical specialist in conventional and advanced water treatment.

• BS in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering (MS preferred).
• Professional Engineer licensed (PE) or ability to obtain within 6–12 months.
• 8+ years of experience preferred in water engineering design, planning, and specification for treatment and pumping station projects.
• Expert knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Experience in primary treatment, filtration processes, chemical storage and feed, advanced treatment, disinfection, hydraulics, and solids processing.
• Successful track record leading water design and plant facilities projects.
• Experience with conventional and membrane filtration, hydraulics, chemical feed systems, and alternate disinfection.
• Progressive experience in evaluation, design, permitting, and construction administration of water treatment facilities, pumping stations, and distribution facilities.

The salary range for this role is $90,000 – $200,000, depending on experience and geographic location.
