The Philanthropy and Grants Coordinator is responsible for managing various development functions as well as managing and executing the submission of grant applications. Working with a small team of colleagues, this individual will engage in a variety of work assignments that include research and writing, creative marketing projects, engagement with donors and clients, and participation in networking activities and fundraising events.
Responsibilities- Participate in community networking events that provide opportunities to identify and cultivate prospects.
- Assist the Foundation team with events, collection drives and public opportunities.
- Assist the Foundation team with determining volunteer opportunities for potential corporate volunteer groups and help schedule opportunities, including the Financial Literacy speaker series for Generations Family Success Center and groups within the Mary
A. Dobbins School. - Assist the Foundation team in social media and publications with opportunities to lead creative projects, which could include photography and videography.
- Serve as a primary administrator of the Foundation database (Donor Perfect), providing inputs, reporting and assuring maximization of use.
- Manage and execute strategies for grant identification, grant writing and management, as well as prospect research to identify and cultivate new sources of funding.
- Work with the Foundation team to build on the department’s grant application schedule with goal numbers of applications monthly to be set collaboratively.
- Establish standards and deadlines for proposals. Assume primary responsibility for foundation and corporation cultivation, stewardship and retention as related to the grant making process.
- Manage the preparation and submission of proposals and reports in a timely fashion, ensuring completeness with enough lead time for other staff to contribute to the proposal, including program staff, Finance and Senior Management.
- Lead the planning and strategy for grant donor visits and other targeted contacts with appropriate prospects and contacts.
- Maintain a system of communications and files for all grant prospects, applications and reports.
- Contribute to the growth of the Foundation’s annual appeal.
- Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in donor relations, stewardship, nonprofit, or grant writing.
- Excellent grammar, writing and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe products; basic knowledge of Canva and Constant Contact is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong cognitive, verbal, and manual skills; hearing and visual acuity are required (corrective devices acceptable).
- Ability to stand, crouch, kneel, lift and carry a minimum of fifty pounds, and participate in the set‑up, running of, and breakdown of special events.
- Growth mindset, willingness to learn, and ability to work under deadlines while handling special requests and stressful situations.
- Professionalism in service delivery, relationship building, collaboration with co‑workers, and representation of the organization and community.
9:00AM – 5:00PM daily with flexibility for after‑hours events and a few weekend days per year for special events. The team is usually in the office 4 days per week with 1 remote day.
