Job DescriptionThe Financial Advisor Manager (FAM) is responsible for the direct management of a team of Financial Advisors. Key objectives of this role include hiring, onboarding, and supervising the day‑to‑day activities and performance of the FAs in an assigned market/territory. The FAM recruits, trains, coaches, and mentors Financial Advisors, ensuring suitability knowledge, product and platform mastery, and compliance with regulatory guidelines. The manager leads partnership activities with Retail and other Partners, drives referral activities, and delivers advice through planning and the distribution of Mass Affluent products, high‑net‑worth and brokerage referrals.
The role implements plans and programs that create opportunities for the team and partners to acquire new clients and deepen business with existing clients.
- Direct supervision of Financial Advisors (FAs)
- Responsible for hiring, onboarding, licensing, training, coaching, ramp‑up, Mass Affluent sales, and Wealth & brokerage referrals in an assigned geographic region(s)/territory(s)
- Assure FAs in the designated territory comply with all regulatory guidelines regarding the Mass Affluent and TDPCW offering
- Increase Mass Affluent product sales productivity and referral productivity through active coaching and planning with Retail Bank leadership including RMPs and RMMs
- Accountable for assigned Mass Affluent revenue and Wealth/brokerage referral goals
- Territory management: collaborate with Wealth and Retail leadership to align store coverage, support and measure store success, and realign coverage as necessary
- Develop strong relationships with Wealth, TD Bank Retail, and other internal/external partners; leverage these networks to provide product training and sales ideas to improve sales and revenue within assigned territory(s)
- Support and complete most complex product sales suitability and client meetings; serve as sales, product, and platform expert for the team
- Execute high‑impact activities and ongoing sales/Mass Affluent product training, coaching, and sales support related project coordination
- Lead implementation of marketing programs
- Assess performance of FAs within the assigned region/territory market
- Provide insights on local competitive intelligence and market share analysis
- Partner with business development executive to launch campaigns that generate leads and opportunities
- Participate in community and business development activities to enhance the profile as an expert in Mass Affluent sales
- Deliver financial plan proposals, sales volumes, assets, and revenue growth within assigned territory(s)
- Monitor, manage, and approve expenditures; prepare monthly financial statements and administrative reports
- Provide leadership and work with managers to develop and retain high‑competent, customer service‑oriented FA staff; maintain continuous FA pipeline to meet staffing needs
- Extensive travel within territory(s) required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 7‑10+ years related experience
- Required Licenses or Registrations (or ability to obtain):
Life/Health, Series 65, 7, and 24 - Excellent communication skills
- Proven managerial skills
- Previous sales/leadership experience
- Demonstrated attention to detail and effective project management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience performing complex financial, statistical, and budgetary analyses, preferably in the banking industry
- Ability to travel within assigned market (about 75% of time)
- Driver’s License required
- Position is with a FINRA member, broker, and/or dealer and is subject to FINRA and Securities Laws. May or may not be a registered position under FINRA.
