Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology Join our esteemed medical team as an Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology specialist and make a meaningful impact on patient care through our comprehensive locum opportunity. We seek a highly skilled provider to deliver exceptional gastroenterology services across multiple scheduled coverage periods, contributing to a well-established and highly reputable endoscopy unit.
This role offers an exciting chance to work in a dynamic hospital environment, performing critical procedures such as EGD, colonoscopy, pH studies, manometry, sigmoidoscopy, PEG/PEG-J tube placements, ERCP/EUS (preferred), and capsule endoscopy. You will be essential in managing patient cases independently, reviewing pathology, and coordinating follow-ups with nursing staff. The position requires full availability for specific dates, with scheduled shifts including weekdays, overnight call, and weekend coverage.
Required Skills:
Valid MI medical license Proven experience in gastroenterology procedures (EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP/EUS preferred) Ability to work independently, managing patient charting and follow-up Excellent communication skills for patient care and team collaboration Familiarity with electronic medical records systems such as Cerner, gGastro, or Athena Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Nice to Have
Skills:
Prior experience with pH studies, manometry, and capsule endoscopy Proficiency in Propofol sedation management Experience in high-volume endoscopy units Bilingual abilities or additional languages Preferred
Education and Experience:
Board Certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology Minimum of 2 years of post-residency experience in gastroenterology practice Prior locum or temporary assignment experience is a plus Other Requirements:
Ability to commit to the full block coverage on scheduled dates No scribe support; provider responsible for all documentation and work completion Immediate credentialing and billing enrollment upon offer acceptance Compliance with all institutional protocols and policies Willingness to work in a hospital setting with advanced endoscopy equipment This is a compelling opportunity to advance your career while providing vital care in a collaborative environment.
