Position Description - Head Start/Early Head Start Coach and Education facilitatorSummary
  • Responsible for mentoring and coaching teachers with a concentration on birth to five for all program children and families.
  • Ensuring that all areas of service are provided to children and families within their team of supervision while coordinating with the Child Manager and Head Start Director
Reporting Relationship

The Head Start/Early Head Start Coach and Education Facilitator reports to the Head Start Director

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Model lessons in classrooms on a daily/weekly basis
  • Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the High Scope curriculum and varied assessments, the Framework for Teaching, and data analysis
  • Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other coaches.
  • Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent with program initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.
  • Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, and information to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.
  • Support teachers in using data to improve instruction on all levels
  • Assist teachers with planning and scaffolding based on the individual developmental needs of each child and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students.
  • Support teachers by helping with the strategic how of teaching -- share multiple instructional strategies/processes with teachers during planning times.
  • Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement
  • Ensures program compliance with Head Start Performance Standards related to education, health, oral health, nutrition, disabilities, and mental health services.
  • Organizes workshops and training sessions for parents and staff in education, health, mental health, nutrition, and disabilities.
  • Ensures program compliance with assessments, interventions, and treatment plans in education, health, mental health, nutrition, dental, and disabilities.
  • Ensures emergency preparedness for Head Start and other programs
  • Follows all Board of Education and Policy Council policies, state laws, and regulations.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Head Start Director.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises and coaches Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and building subs while carrying out responsibilities per the district's policies and procedures.

Required

Education and/or Experience
  • Masters in Early Childhood Education.
  • PQA reliable assessor
  • Formal training in curriculum, screening, and assessment tools (High Scope, ASQ, COR)
  • High Scope Certified preferred
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to analyze and aggregate data pertinent to school readiness and assessment for children and families
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Other

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability in using MS Office Suite and email.
