Overview
We are seeking a Control Systems Specialist to support OTAM (Operational Technology Asset Management) initiatives across our power generation fleet. This role partners closely with DCS and ECS engineers to identify, document, and maintain accurate control system asset data across fossil, gas, and renewable generation facilities. This is a data-focused controls role — ideal for a controls or systems professional who understands DCS/SCADA environments and enjoys organizing, validating, and managing technical data that supports regulatory and cybersecurity requirements.
While this is not a traditional “hands-on engineering” role, an engineering background and strong controls knowledge are essential
.
- Support OTAM requirements by reviewing, validating, and updating the OTAM asset registry
- Collect and organize control system asset data including:
- Equipment and tag points
- Serial numbers
- Software versions and configurations
- Cross-reference existing OTAM lists with vendor documentation and system records
- Perform field verification when required to identify missing or inaccurate asset data
- Maintain and enhance asset registries, including items such as:
- Software inventories and correlations
- Collaborate with DCS engineers and site personnel across multiple generation facilities
- Ensure documentation aligns with compliance and cybersecurity requirements
- Engineering or technical background in Controls, Electrical, Automation, or related field
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data organization, categorization, validation)
- Experience working with DCS systems (preferred)
- Familiarity with SCADA and/or PLC systems (acceptable and beneficial)
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and translate it into structured data
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- NERC and FERC training required
- Background in power generation, utilities, manufacturing, or renewables
- Experience with control systems from vendors such as:
- GE
- Siemens
- Prior involvement in OTAM, asset management, cybersecurity, or compliance-related initiatives
- Location:
Saginaw, MI or Jackson, MI (Local candidates only – no per diem) - Work Model:
