A rapidly growing company specializing in industrial machinery design and manufacturing is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to join their high-performing engineering team in Central Michigan
. This role offers the opportunity to design complex machinery, tooling, automation systems, and custom solutions used in advanced industrial applications—where creativity, real-world experience, and hands‑on engineering excellence truly matter.

As a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in developing new machinery, improving existing designs, and creating tooling solutions that support high-performance manufacturing operations. You’ll work with a motivated, collaborative team focused on delivering innovative products at a global scale.

Key responsibilities include:

• 🏗️
  Design new machines, tooling, and automation systems used to process precision components.
• 🔧 Modify existing machinery to support new product requirements or reduce manufacturing costs.
• 📐 Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure accurate, repeatable part processing.
• 🧰 Design custom tooling and fixtures for production equipment.
• 🧠 Identify and implement industry best practices to enhance machine performance and manufacturability.
• 🧩 Apply practical, real-world engineering experience to solve daily technical challenges.
• 🎓 Utilize experience‑based engineering judgment—5+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

• 🛠️ Bring familiarity with specialized tooling (preferred but not required).
• 📅 Manage multiple priorities with strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• 🤝 Collaborate cross‑functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and production teams.

Required:

• 🎓 Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• 🏭 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience or similar technical vocation.
• 🖥️ 3+ years designing machinery or tooling using 3D CAD software.
• 📐 3+ years of AutoCAD, Solid Works, and Microsoft Office experience.
• 📊 3+ years working with ERP systems in an engineering or manufacturing environment.

Preferred:

• 🧰 Experience designing tooling or industrial machinery.
• 🛠️ Exposure to specialized tooling processes and related equipment.
• 🎓
  Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) background preferred for hands‑on engineering applications.
