What you’ll do
  • Supervise daily operations of the water treatment plant, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Lead and mentor a team of operators and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in water treatment processes.
  • Monitor water quality and treatment processes, conducting regular tests and analyses to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules and oversee repairs of equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports related to water quality, plant operations, and staff performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and environmental teams to plan and execute upgrades or modifications to the facility.
  • Respond to emergencies and operational issues, providing timely solutions to maintain uninterrupted water service.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on safety protocols, equipment operation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Engage with the community and stakeholders to provide updates on water quality and plant operations, addressing any concerns or inquiries.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in water treatment technologies to recommend improvements.
  • Participate in budget planning and resource allocation to ensure the plant operates within financial constraints.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in water treatment operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with staff, regulatory agencies, and the community.
  • Proficiency in using computer software for data analysis, reporting, and plant management systems.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain necessary certifications related to water treatment operations.
Nice to have
  • Certification as a Water Treatment Operator or similar credential.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and other automated control technologies.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability practices in water management.
  • Previous experience in project management or process improvement initiatives.
