By joining the team as a Loss Control Construction Consultant, you’ll work with policyholders, agents, and company personnel through survey consultations and educational guidance.
How You’ll Make An Impact- Conduct Loss Control surveys and service activities in assigned territory for middle market Construction accounts with oversight from the Senior Loss Control Construction Manager and/or Loss Control Construction Specialist in their region
- Attend Construction Underwriting group meetings and visit key agency partners and insureds in conjunction with Construction Underwriters and Territory Sales/Distribution
- Provide relevant onsite trainings and certifications for middle market Construction accounts and agencies as requested (such as OSHA trainings)
- Conduct surveys of Small Business Construction accounts as workloads allows
- Independently complete continuing education and certifications that increase and support technical skills related to the Construction vertical, including ride-along training with Loss Control Construction Specialists
- Field-based role:
Travels via assigned company vehicle within a defined territory to provide Loss Control services to policyholders and agents in the assigned territories - Complete assigned tasks that support underwriting profitability
- Analyze claims, hazards, and safety data in order to make effective recommendations
- Assist with non-construction accounts as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Fire Prevention, or related field and 4 years’ experience in Loss Control Or 6 years’ experience in Loss Control
- Risk Management designation of ARM, CRP, CPCU, CFPS, CRM, ASP, CSP, or OHST
- Valid Driver’s license
- Must be able to climb ladders, access building rooftops and construction job sites
- Achieved or actively pursuing the Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation
- Loss Control experience in conducting surveys for small and middle market Construction related risks such as Residential and Commercial Contractors (to include Civil Contractors, Homebuilders, General Contractors, and Artisan Contractors)
- Education in Occupational Safety and Health with a concentration in Construction Safety
- Ability to professionally interact with our agents and insureds
- Ability to make favorable impressions with agents, insureds, and company personnel
- Excellent organization and territory planning skills
- Ability to investigate, gather facts and information, and analyze coverage
- Understand the importance of capturing data
- Possess an innovative and continuous improvement mindset
- Possess a positive, professional, cooperative, and quality-conscious service attitude
- Ability to work under pressure, deal with interpersonal conflict, and handle a heavy workload
- Possess analytical and problem-solving skills
- Possess verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skills
- Ability to understand Central Insurance’s policies and processes
- Must be available for travel, including overnight travel
