Selected Candidate Appointment
The selected candidate will be appointed to either the Branch Supervisor 9 position (Trainee) or the Branch Supervisor 10 position based on the education and experience listed in their application.
Position dutiesThis position will function as the trainee/support manager of Department of State Mobile Office. It ensures training of set-up, teardown, and maintenance of the office. All standard branch office procedures will be followed in regard to the processing of transactions. This position assists in representing the Secretary of State and the Agency’s viewpoints by conveying office’s primary focus will be serving the communities within a specific region of the state.
Will be required to occasionally work 10+ hours days as well as evening and weekends. When not scheduled for the mobile office, this position may be required to report to a branch office within the area to assist customers.
This position will be assigned to Mobile Office. Daily travel within a designated territory of the state will be required. The primary focus of the Mobile Office will be to serve the marginalized community. Minimal to no over-night travel will be required. Occasional weekend and evening events may be required. When not scheduled for the mobile office, this position may be required to report to a branch office within the District to assist customers.

Appointment type/BenefitsThis position is Full-Time. Therefore, you would be eligible to participate in the benefits offered by the state.
Work scheduleAs a Full-Time position, the incumbent(s) will work a varied schedule of 40 or more hours per week. Occasional travel may be required for relief assignments at other branch offices.
EducationCompletion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits).
ExperienceNo specific type or amount is required.
AlternateEducation and Experience Department Of State Branch Supervisor 9 - 10
Four years of experience equivalent to a Department of State Aide, including two years equivalent to a Department of State Aide E8 or one year equivalent to a Department of State Aide 9 may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
OR
Completion of one year of college and one year of experience as a Department of State Aide E8 may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
The use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) in the selections process (i.e. application, written exercises, cover letter, etc.) with MDOS is not permitted. If it is substantiated that AI was used in the process, your application will be removed from consideration.
Interview and SelectionIf you are scheduled for an interview based on your application and fail to attend the interview without proper notice (i.e. no call/no show or cancellation without valid reason and/or wish to reschedule), you will be removed from the selections process and will be ineligible for consideration of similar positions for the following six months.
Civil Service Commission Rule 2-7 requires that all newly hired state employees submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test prior to their actual appointment. Due to the nature of work of the Department of State, criminal records will be checked. Any position offer will be conditional until results of the criminal background record checks indicate eligibility for employment.
