Role Overview:
The campaign is interested in hiring a contractor to serve as a Political Manager responsible for engaging in outreach to community leaders, elected officials, political organizations and organized labor. This role would require 25-30 hours per week.
Responsibilities- Lead outreach to community leaders, elected officials, organizations, and labor unions across Michigan, with a minimum of 10-15 hours of outreach per week.
- Manage the candidate’s political call-time and organize political call-time lists.
- Oversee endorsement processes with organizations and labor unions, including drafting candidate questionnaires and management of endorsement process follow-up with stakeholders.
- Assist with engaging our network of endorsing organizations, community leaders, elected officials and labor unions.
- Help strategize events and travel and support the build for events.
- Other campaign needs as required.
- Established network and relationships with political and community leaders in Michigan.
- Must have transportation to attend events as needed.
- Proficiency with Excel and Google Drive.
- Willingness to work irregular hours including nights and weekends.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a desire to learn and a willingness to ask questions.
- Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment while maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail.
- Commitment to electing Abdul El-Sayed to the U.S. Senate.
- Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant and productive ways.
- Personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross-cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability.
- Two campaign cycles of previous experience in Michigan working in community relations, political engagement, or campaign management.
- Experience directly managing/staffing a principal is a significant plus.
