How

you'll contribute

An RN Executive Director who excels in this role:

  • Assists the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in providing leadership to nursing staff that will enroll their support, create ownership of goals, and have them actively participate in decisions that impact the hospital.
  • Direct and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Assist the CNO in maintaining necessary regulatory and compliance approvals and quality accreditations. Partners/Collaborates with physicians who use or will use the hospital.
  • Plans and monitors for staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Assists in planning new services that generate additional sources of profitable revenue. Creates an environment that will encourage recruiting and retention of clinical employees.
  • Assist the CNO in managing costs, identify opportunities and take action to eliminate non-value costs.
  • Assists the CNO in establishing standards for nursing practices and maintain authority, accountability and responsibility for nursing services.
  • Develop organizational patient care programs, policies and procedures that describe how nursing care is assessed, delivered, and evaluated.
  • Assist the CNO in developing and managing the nursing services budget and ensuring enough qualified staff to assess patient needs.
  • Plans and provide nursing care interventions and prevent complications, promote improvement and patient comfort and wellness.
  • Analyzes areas in planning, promoting and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities.
  • Represents nursing services at meetings (leadership meetings, medical staff, Board of Trustees, Group meetings, etc.)
  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
  • Assists CNO and other Leaders in establishing and monitoring compliance with standards to ensure patient expectations are met or exceeded.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess a master's degree from an accredited nursing school.(If enrolled in master's program, it must be completed within 3 years.)

Additional requirements include

  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (preferred)
