Position: NORTHERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY CAREERS

Position Title:

Staff Nurse

Health Center

Term of Assignment:

Continuing

FLSA Status:

Exempt = not eligible for overtime

Work Schedule:

Traditionally Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm during the academic year.

Salary:

Targeted Salary Range: $49,000-$55,000

Travel:

No travel

Brief Statement of Duties:

Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent or disabled patients. May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Required

    Education:

    Associate's Degree
  • Discipline/Degree Area:
    Nursing
  • Required Specialized Training/

    Certifications:

    Associates or BSN degree.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Michigan.
  • Required Minimum

    Work Experience:

    Previous work-related skill, knowledge or experience.
  • Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases and deformities to include symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions and preventive health-care measures.
  • Customer and personal service-knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Oral and written communication-talking, listening and writing to and with others to convey information effectively.
  • Service orientation-actively look for ways to help people.
  • Interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to document information concisely, completely and clearly.
Additional Desirable

Qualifications:
  • Experience providing care in a university health center.
  • Experience Providing Care In a Primary Care Office.
  • Electronic medical records experience.
  • Experience administering allergy shots.
