BSSW - Maintenance Technician

Bay Shore Steel Works (BSSW) is a subsidiary of Grand Traverse Economic Development (GTED), a fast-growing company with opportunities to learn and advance. We are seeking an energetic applicant who can meet and exceed the below goals.

We are currently looking to bring on a Maintenance Technician for our Charlevoix, Michigan location, who thrives in a fast-paced plant environment and enjoys being part of a team. In this role you will perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic and preventative maintenance on all required equipment to maximize productivity while maintaining safety and quality standards.

$19.00 to $25.00/hour based upon experience.

• Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements.
• Effectively troubleshoot equipment to identify issues within the plant and take necessary corrective actions to repair, replace, or rebuild.
• Inspects/maintains plant buildings and facilities. May be required to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems.
• Perform other job functions as requested to support the effective and efficient operation of the plant.

• High School diploma or GED.
• 3-5 years of experience working as a Maintenance Technician / Maintenance Mechanic.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and drawings.
  • Experience with lockout/tag out.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements and safety focused.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, walk, climb stairs, reach, and stoop frequently as well as lift weights up to 50lbs. Occasional lifting of up to 80lbs is also required. Must be able to work d vision, hearing, color vision, speaking, and finger dexterity skills are required as well as the ability to perform close work in a confined space.
  • A Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be insurable with GTED insurance carrier.

• Certificate of completion from a trade school and 3 years of experience working as a Maintenance Technician / Maintenance Mechanic.
