Job DescriptionAs the YMCA Aquatics Director you will lead and manage all aquatic programs and facilities to ensure safety, quality programming, and alignment with the YMCA’s mission. You will oversee daily operations and long‑term development, maintain a safe and welcoming aquatic environment, supervise and train staff, ensure compliance with all safety regulations, and deliver high‑quality programs such as swim lessons, lifeguarding, aquatic fitness, and swim teams.
Your leadership will include member engagement, risk management, budgeting, and program growth, while promoting the YMCA’s values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
- One to two years of related experience preferred (e.g., as an aquatics coordinator or supervisor).
- Minimum age of 21.
- Within 30 days of hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention, Working with Program Volunteers, CPR, First Aid, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens training, and Lifeguard certification.
- Completion of YMCA aquatics training and trainer certifications.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Within 90 days of hire, completion of Certified Pool Operators Certification.
- Ensure programs and services meet community needs by supervising existing activities, establishing new ones, and expanding the program as required. Assist in marketing and distribution of program information.
- Monitor daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations, and conduct proper maintenance of pools. Maintain accurate records of chemical levels and facility maintenance.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop a diverse staff and volunteer team. Provide lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid, and CPR training and maintain current certifications.
- Model relationship‑building skills in all interactions, develop collaborative relationships with community organizations, and maintain clear communication within the area of responsibility.
- Manage the program, including developing and monitoring the budget, compiling statistics to evaluate effectiveness and participation, securing and scheduling the pool facilities, and creating and scheduling classes, practices, and meets.

Provide decision‑making frameworks, launch programs with prototypes, develop plans and best practices, manage budgets, hold staff accountable, and measure progress through formal processes. - Personal Growth

Share new insights, facilitate change, model adaptability, address sensitive issues with non‑threatening methods, and demonstrate current technical knowledge and skills.
