As a Medical Assistant, you’re on the front line of care. You provide clinical and non-clinical assistance to physicians, providers and licensed staff in the management of patient flow and the environment of care, including answering phone messages, scheduling, authorization of procedures and surgeries, deliveries, and stepping in as needed to cover other duties within the scope of non-licensed staff.

Your EverydayGENERAL DUTIES
Clinical
:
Measures and records vital signs, identifies abnormal values, and reports findings to the appropriate nursing staff or medical provider. Assists with patient arrival, schedules new and follow-up appointments, and facilitates smooth patient exits. Recognizes emergencies and responds per organizational policy and procedure. Provides comfort to patients with consideration of age and special needs. Maintains clinic equipment, prepares, tests for safety, and cleans/disinfects equipment between patients and at clinic end per hospital policy.
Maintains linens, supplies, and stocks exam rooms. Properly collects, prepares, and secures laboratory specimens for testing or transport when necessary.
Documentation
:
Documents in the patient medical record according to departmental guidelines. Navigates Electronic Medical Records to obtain laboratory and radiology results, outside medical records, updates patient demographics, and schedules follow-up appointments. Prepares safety reports when warranted. Maintains privacy of patient information by securing computer screens when staff are away.
Professionalism and Support
:
Demonstrates honesty, promptness, dependability, courtesy, and respect in interactions with patients, caregivers, customers, co-workers, and staff. Keeps clinic managers informed of activities, requirements, and problems. Manages patient and/or co-worker complaints calmly and reports events to the clinic manager daily. Maintains strict patient confidentiality by discussing issues only with appropriate persons and in a proper setting.
Safety and Infection Control
:
Implements standard and transmission-based precautions per policy. Ensures patient safety during visits. Reports safety hazards to the Clinic Manager or designee. Participates in Quality Improvement processes, including QAPI projects and EOC Rounds.
Clerical Support
:
Gathers appropriate clinical documentation for review by the medical provider. Obtains medical records from outside facilities when needed. Scans outside correspondence into the EMR. Answers the telephone and routes calls promptly.
Minimum
:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent, or 2 years of relevant work experience.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
