SUMMARY:The Technology Education teacher is responsible for the planning instruction and/or adoption of the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences. The teacher’s role is to develop and explore in each student the many new technologies that affect our daily lives.
BUILDING(S):Gordon and Harrington Elementary
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or higher
- Valid Michigan elementary teaching certificate
- Build trust and confidence with students
- Install the operation computer system on the instructor and the student computers in the technology lab
- Configure the network settings and file sharing for the instructor and student computer in the technology lab
- Create classes and add students to the roster of the ECMS throughout the school year
- Install multimedia software on individual student computers
- Supervise and deliver technology education curriculum for students
- Organize and maintain equipment for all modules in the technology lab
- Install the keyboarding on the technology lab computers and configure network settings for each computer
- Supervise and deliver keyboarding curriculum to students
- Evaluate student progress in technology education and keyboarding; record progress on appropriate report card forms
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to provide an orderly and productive classroom environment
- Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student progress and to interpret the school program
- Participate in curriculum development programs and in faculty committees
- Assist in the planning or instruction of any other regular academic topic on a limited basis as determined by the make-up of his/her team (if necessary)
- Demonstrate an understanding of the district's mission, vision and strategic priorities and actively works to advance them through daily practice and professional conduct
- Contribute to the culture and climate of the district by modeling its core values, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment and serving as a committed representative of the district's identity and purpose in all interactions with students, families, staff and the broader community
- Read and be familiar with the School Student Handbook and Policy Manual of Marshall Public Schools; strict compliance with all rules, regulations and policies is required
- Meet all contractual obligations as outlined in the Marshall Teachers’ Association Master Agreement
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents
- Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the building principal
