Position: Special Education Aide for Middle School and High School

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support students with diverse learning needs in a middle school and high school setting. The Special Education Aide will work closely with teachers and special education staff to provide assistance to students, fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment. This part-time position requires a commitment to enhancing the academic and social development of students with disabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students in academic subjects and daily activities.
  • Help facilitate classroom management and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Support students during transitions between classes and during lunch or recess.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of behavioral intervention plans.
  • Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to adapt instructional materials and activities.
  • Participate in professional development and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge in special education.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to all school policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with students with disabilities or in an educational setting is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from teachers and special education staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in using educational technology.
  • Must pass a background check and any required training or certification.
