NATURE OF POSITIONThe special education LRE paraprofessional will assist with the educational development of children with special needs by ways of one-one-one instructional support.

WORK YEARSchool Year Calendar (up to 180 days)
SCHEDULEM-F 8:15 AM - 3:45 PM with duty free lunch (7 hr/day; 35 hr/wk)
ACCOUNTABILITYThe paraprofessional will be under the direct supervision of the Principal.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS- Education
- Associate's degree; OR
- 60+ credit hours from a degree granting college/university; OR
- High school diploma WITH successful passage of the Paraprofessional ETS Assessment*
- Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), preferred but not required
- Parental experience, desired but not required
- Ability to work well with children and adults
- Maintain a general interest in helping children in their educational process
- Calm and patient demeanor
- Assist in supervision of student
- Provide academic, one-to-one support for student when needed
- Provide individual and small group instruction, when applicable
- Demonstrate initiative and creativity with student(s) and their program
- Demonstrate understanding of student's problems, including medical needs; follow medical protocol as directed
- Provide non-instructional health and behavior support of student as outlined in IEP, including any personal care needs, if applicable
- Adhere to district health and safety procedures
- Demonstrate an understanding of the district's mission, vision and strategic priorities and actively works to advance them through daily practice and professional conduct
- Contribute to the culture and climate of the district by modeling its core values, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment and serving as a committed representative of the district's identity and purpose in all interactions with students, families, staff and the broader community
- Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the principal and/or teacher
