Sterilization Tech - Surgical Services

Job Summary: Assumes responsibility for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies, instrumentation and equipment dispensed to all surgical locations and other house-wide areas.

• Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
• Disassembles, sterilizes, and disinfects all surgical equipment.
• Participates in receipt, storage and distribution of supplies and instruments needed for Operating Rooms.
• Sterilizes and disinfects all surgical instruments.

• 18 years of age.
• Proven experience in sterile processing environment.
• Sterile Processing Certification within one (1) year of hire.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire.

• Sterile Processing Certification preferred.
• One (1) years’ experience in sterile processing, preferred.
• Knowledge of Operating Room materials preferred.
• Basic working knowledge of computers.
• Skilled in instrument decontamination, processing, and assembly.
• A thorough knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of sterilization procedures and techniques.

• Potentially exposed to infectious diseases.

• Constantly talk/hear.
• Frequently stand, sit, walk, reach, push/pull, see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, bend/twist, stoop/kneel/crouch, lift/carry 50+ lbs.
