The Day Porter plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within a manufacturing facility. This position ensures that all common areas, restrooms, and work spaces are kept orderly and sanitized throughout the day, supporting operational efficiency and employee well‑being. The Day Porter actively monitors facility conditions, promptly addressing any cleanliness or maintenance issues to prevent disruptions. By performing routine cleaning and minor maintenance tasks, the Day Porter contributes to compliance with health and safety standards.
Ultimately, this role supports a productive manufacturing environment by fostering a hygienic and organized workplace.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or porter services preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and supplies, including safe handling procedures.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with occupational health and safety standards related to facility maintenance.
- Certification in workplace safety or custodial training programs.
- Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers or buffers.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.
- Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal in designated areas throughout the manufacturing facility.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of restrooms, break rooms, and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment for all employees.
- Monitor facility conditions and report any maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel promptly.
- Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap, and other consumables in restrooms and break areas as needed.
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, moving furniture, and setting up rooms for meetings or events.
