The Wound Care RN plans, coordinates and provides total nursing care for residents and provides supervision and guidance to clinical staff members in relation to wound care.

• Education: Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
• Licenses / Certification: Valid RN license in the state of employment; valid CPR certification.
• Experience: Two years of nursing experience preferred.

• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates ostomy care for patients on units.
• Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff for complex wound drainage, drainage confinement, skin protection and prevention of pressure necrosis.
• Develops and conducts educational programs for staff.
• Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms and teaching needs.
• Develops a patient care plan and determines the equipment, materials and resources needed to implement the plan.
• Selects the stoma (opening) site on the patient prior to surgery based on anatomy, activity level and lifestyle.
• Performs related responsibilities as required.
