The Wound Care RN plans, coordinates and provides total nursing care for residents and provides supervision and guidance to clinical staff members in relation to wound care.
Qualifications- Education: Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
- Licenses / Certification: Valid RN license in the state of employment; valid CPR certification.
- Experience: Two years of nursing experience preferred.
- Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates ostomy care for patients on units.
- Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff for complex wound drainage, drainage confinement, skin protection and prevention of pressure necrosis.
- Develops and conducts educational programs for staff.
- Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms and teaching needs.
- Develops a patient care plan and determines the equipment, materials and resources needed to implement the plan.
- Selects the stoma (opening) site on the patient prior to surgery based on anatomy, activity level and lifestyle.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
- Skilled in directing and motivating the workforce.
- Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their families, and at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
