Wound Care - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

The Wound Care LPN plans, coordinates, and provides total nursing care for residents and provides supervision and guidance to clinical staff in relation to wound care.
The Wound Care LPN plays a key role in wound care management, collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, and residents to deliver high-quality care and education.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate ostomy and wound care for residents on units.
- Provide advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff for complex wound drainage, drainage confinement, skin protection, and prevention of pressure-related skin deterioration.
- Develop and conduct educational programs for staff related to wound care and ostomy management.
- Determine appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs.
- Develop patient care plans and determine equipment, materials, and resources needed to implement care plans.
- Assist with stoma site selection pre-surgery based on patient anatomy, activity level, and lifestyle.
- Perform related responsibilities as required.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited LPN program of nursing. - Licenses/Certifications:
Valid LPN license in the state of employment; valid CPR certification. - Experience:
Two years of nursing experience preferred.
- Skilled in directing and motivating the workforce.
- Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
- Effective communication with residents, family members, and all levels of the organization.
- Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
