Job Description
This adjunct position will teach courses for the English, Philosophy, Spanish, and Humanities Department and/or mentor concurrent enrollment instructors in the College Now program. Applicants may indicate a preference for one or both opportunities.
Responsibilities- Teach first- and second-year academic writing courses.
- Mentor concurrent enrollment instructors in the College Now dual credit program, especially for Composition courses and Literature courses.
- Follow programmatic standards in courses taught and mentored and work from a common curriculum developed by the department.
- Be available to students and mentees outside of class time.
- Master’s degree in English, Composition, Rhetoric, or a closely related area, or a master’s degree with 18+ graduate credits in English.
- Ability to travel to on-site visits within the state of Minnesota and attend an annual summer workshop on the Southwest Minnesota State University campus, for mentoring College Now instructors.
- Experience teaching college-level English.
- Appreciation for liberal arts education.
- Ability to work productively and collegially with students, faculty, and administrators.
For a teaching position, preference will be given to applicants who can teach classes on campus in Marshall, Minnesota.
