Responsibilities

The work you'll do is more than just a job.

As an Onsite Screener, you will conduct on site screening of re-enrolling Minnesota Health Care Program (MHCP) providers across the state. The position involves independent travel within an assigned geographic area to conduct unannounced screening visits for designated high-risk provider types. These visits verify the accuracy of information submitted to the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) and assess compliance with federal and state enrollment eligibility requirements.

Screening activities are a critical component of program integrity efforts to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse.

  • Conduct on-site screening activities for moderate and high-risk providers to revalidate them as MHCP providers.
  • Make recommendations on reenrollment status based on information obtained.
  • Conduct assigned unannounced screening visits within designated time frames; typical screening visits take approximately one hour or less.
  • Complete electronic ELICI screening checklists using a DHS-issued tablet or computer.
  • Obtain information and conduct brief interviews of providers and other key individuals during onsite visits to assess provider eligibility and compliance with revalidation requirements.
  • Take photographs and document site locations and screening findings in accordance with DHS protocols and by using prepared checklists and resources.
Minimum Qualifications
  • To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.

Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record, and the ability to travel independently throughout an assigned geographic area.

AND

Experience conducting inspections, compliance reviews, investigations, audits, fieldwork, or similar activities within government, health care, human services, law enforcement, licensing, regulatory work, or related fields.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, social sciences, business, health services, or another field providing skills in compliance, documentation, interviewing, or regulated-environment work.

  • Experience must also demonstrate:
  • Computer skills to perform data entry, report generation, and electronic system navigation.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, to document findings, prepare reports, and explain requirements.
  • Time management and organizational skills in order to use time and resources efficiently.
  • Critical thinking and professional judgement in order to react and pivot actions on site in response to situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proximity within any of the three (3) regions noted above in the summary section.
  • Experience conducting unannounced visits, field inspections, or site assessments.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP).
  • Experience in compliance, program integrity, oversight, or regulatory work.
  • Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
