Position SummaryThis position performs a wide variety of duties involving the maintenance and repair of public works facilities. Responsibilities include manual labor, operating light equipment and trucks to maintain streets, parks, the airport, and the City storm sewer system.
Responsibilities- Maintain and repair public works facilities, including streets, parks, airport surfaces, and storm sewer systems.
- Operate light equipment and trucks, ensuring safety and compliance with all traffic laws.
- Provide snow removal, emergency and planned city services, which may occur outside regular hours.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Valid MN Class B CDL License with endorsements for airbrakes and tankers, or the ability to obtain such licensure and endorsements within 60 days of hire.
- One (1) year of experience in construction (carpentry, welding, landscape, masonry, or asphalt paving).
- One (1) year of experience operating trucks and light equipment.
- Must maintain a 30‑minute travel/response time while obeying all traffic laws and speed limits to the Street Maintenance Facility at 901 Oak Street.
Employment is conditional upon successful completion and passage of a criminal history background check, driver’s license verification, FMCSA Clearinghouse Query, a pre‑employment physical, a pre‑employment drug screening, and reference checks to determine suitability for employment.
Pay Range at Hire$26.77 – $28.53 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Schedule7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday. Some work may occur outside the regular schedule. The employee must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays to perform snow removal and other city services.
