Hancock Superior Court 2 has an open position for a Court Reporter. Primary responsibilities would include, but not be limited to:

Position Responsibilities
  • Recording and reporting all court proceedings using the court’s automated system, including maintaining exhibits, depositions, recordings, and notes of all proceedings.
  • Working in the automated case management system, as well as the queues (court tasks).
  • Answering court telephones and answering questions from other courts, attorneys, and the general public while adhering to confidentiality procedures.
  • Working individually and as a team with other staff members in duties essential to the operations of the court.
  • Typing orders, entries, and documents; preparing and maintaining files; preparing correspondence and distributing as required by the court; assisting with the scheduling of cases on the court calendar; monitoring supplies needed for the operation of the court; and other tasks assigned by the Court.
  • Preparing transcripts of the record of proceedings when requested, including outside regular hours for private pay.
  • Jury preparation tasks relating to acquiring jury pools, calendaring, etc.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; clerical or administrative experience in the legal field preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of legal terminology and civil and/or criminal procedures are a plus.
  • Proven computer skills and ability to type at least 45 wpm while maintaining accuracy of complex and lengthy material.
  • Knowledge and use of proper grammar and spelling are a must.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
Work Hours

8:00 am to 4:00 pm (35 hours/wk.); occasionally, additional hours may be required.

Salary and Benefits

Salary – $50,000 – $53,368 annually. Pay is commensurate with experience and education. Benefits are offered per the Hancock County Benefits Package, which includes but is not limited to Health Insurance, New PTO Policy, Holiday Package, and more.
