The Managing Director of Development leads The TSTC Foundation’s statewide Donor Development function to drive philanthropic investment in support of Texas State Technical College’s mission. This role provides strategic leadership for fundraising programs including major gifts, corporate sponsor ships, philanthropic grants, and capital campaigns. The Managing Director manages a statewide donor portfolio, cultivates high-impact relationships, and leads the Donor Development team to achieve revenue goals that advance workforce education and institutional priorities.
Responsibilities- Supervision and Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and manage the statewide Donor Development team by establishing measurable performance goals, providing coaching and professional development, and aligning fundraising efforts with institutional priorities. - Fundraising Strategy and Program Implementation:
Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies including annual and major gifts, planned giving, corporate sponsor ships, and capital campaigns to meet The TSTC Foundation’s revenue objectives. - Portfolio Management:
Maintain and grow a statewide portfolio of corporate, foundation, and individual donors through outreach, solicitation, and stewardship to maximize philanthropic support for scholarships, facilities, equipment, and campus initiatives. - Major Gifts Acquisition:
Cultivate and manage relationships with high-profile donors and prospects, leveraging statewide contacts to secure major gifts that support institutional priorities. - Strategic Partnerships and Institutional Advancement:
Collaborate with External Relations leadership to align fundraising initiatives with institutional goals, legislative priorities, and workforce development strategies. - Grant Development and Administration:
Partner with the Office of Sponsored Programs to identify, pursue, and support funding opportunities from charitable foundations, ensuring alignment with institutional initiatives and compliance expectations. - Data Management and Reporting:
Utilize donor management systems and performance metrics to track fundraising progress, analyze donor trends, and prepare reports for executive leadership, the Board of Regents, and the TSTC Foundation Board of Directors. - Special Events and Campaigns:
Plan and oversee statewide fundraising campaigns and sponsorship initiatives that enhance donor engagement and philanthropic impact. - Proposal Development:
Oversee the development of compelling gift proposals aligned with Foundation priorities and donor interests.
Required Qualifications
- Three years of experience in a leadership or management role overseeing teams and driving operational excellence.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, institutional advancement, and/or corporate and industry partnership development.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, capital campaigns, and donor engagement with a demonstrated record of securing multi-million-dollar philanthropic gifts.
- Four years of experience managing donor development professionals and overseeing assigned donor portfolios.
- Demonstrated knowledge of philanthropy, fundraising principles, and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience planning, analyzing, and coordinating strategic business ventures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Four years of experience in a leadership or management role overseeing teams and driving operational excellence.
- Six years of progressively responsible experience in higher education advancement or corporate and industry partnership development.
- Six years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising and capital campaign leadership with major gift outcomes.
