Registered Nurse
There is one open position available for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. The competent nurse in this role practices independently in a similar clinical setting. This position involves providing both routine and complex care to patients. The nurse will demonstrate an awareness of all relevant aspects of the clinical situation. The ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing is essential.
The nurse will make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation. Responsibilities include meeting the expectations of applicable competencies such as leader of self, leader of others, or leader of leaders. Consistent with the nursing scope and standards of practice, nursing care will be provided utilizing the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
The nurse will address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to their level of practice. Using appropriate protocols, the nurse will administer medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments. Accurate documentation of patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given is required. Assessment of learning needs and provision of education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers is also essential.
The nurse will identify issues and resources as necessary. All newly hired experienced RNs must attend orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member. Initial onboarding requirements will be validated through successful completion of designated organizational and department-specific competency validations. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is necessary.
