- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead electrical lines and related equipment.
- Climb poles and use proper safety gear under the supervision of a higher-class lineman.
- String wire, install hardware, transformers, and other system components under supervision.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment such as line trucks, aerial lifts, hand tools, and power tools.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
- Perform groundman duties as required including handling tools, materials, and equipment.
- Assist with emergency and storm restoration work as required (often outside regular hours).
- Learn and adhere to company and industry standards and procedures.
- Attend training sessions and demonstrate progress in gaining skills required for Lineman
B.
- Basic understanding of electrical theory and safety procedures.
- Ability to climb poles using proper equipment.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools used in line work.
- Good physical condition; ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from senior personnel.
- Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to high voltage electricity, heights, and hazardous equipment.
- On-call availability for emergency repairs and storm response.
- Physical work that includes climbing, lifting, and carrying heavy materials.
