Job Description /SummaryThe purpose of this position is to support and guide prospective students, returning students, and parents with all aspects of financial aid assistance at the college. This position serves as the financial aid assistant by assisting students with completion of the FAFSA, aiding with preparing and disbursing awards, and financial literacy. Additionally, this position will be involved with the day‑to‑day maintenance of student records, coordinating work‑study expenditures, along with assisting in the direct loan process.
This position also coordinates the college’s default prevention program at the college campus location.
This is a 0.75 FTE position. Work schedule will be determined upon hire.
List ofJob Duties
- Assists prospective, current, and former students, as well as their families, as a front‑line resource for completion of the FAFSA and subsequent financial aid processing. Provides counseling to students regarding financial aid opportunities, which includes federal, state, and institutional aid, and the status of their individual files. Analyzes pertinent financial data and changes or updates made to student files to determine eligibility.
- Manages financial literacy activities on campus and coordinates the default prevention program including exit counseling and loan repayment outreach.
- Maintains complete and accurate student financial aid records, enters recipient date into Power Faids, and scans proper documentation into Docuware.
- Provides administrative coordination and support of pertinent financial aid information for multiple campus departments, including athletics, foundations, library services, and others at the campus location.
- Maintains an accurate log of earnings and remaining federal work‑study eligibility.
- Collaborates with Financial Services in reviewing and verifying the processing of student and parent refund checks.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of and ability to use good phone etiquette. Proficient at using the telephone system and messaging. Ability to handle moderately to highly confidential matters and materials with discretion. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to provide exceptional customer service skills.
- Knowledge of IVCCD processes and procedures, and the ability to comply.
- Ability to multi‑task efficiently and in a timely manner. Ability to exercise good judgment and use critical thinking skills. Ability to work in an environment of shifting priorities and frequent interruptions.
- Knowledge of computer software programs to include:
Powerfaids, Jenzabar and Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of and ability to work in computer systems designed for department work. - Knowledge of office machines, such as copiers, scanners, and printers.
High School Diploma or Equivalency HSED required. Previous office support experience preferred.
