Job Overview
CAD Designer – Marshalltown, Iowa. The role involves creating mechanical engineering drawings, developing 3D models, handling part numbers, and coordinating with engineering, simulation, manufacturing, marketing, and suppliers.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with engineering teams during product development and design iterations.
- Identify areas of improvement, provide recommendations, and implement solutions by developing new tools or processes.
- Train CAD users in core application skills and standards.
- Communicate effectively with CAD users across multiple global sites.
- Work both independently and as part of a team, inside and outside the business unit.
- Interact daily with the Global CAD teams.
- Contribute to activities and projects to help achieve business unit goals and objectives.
- Layout and design sliding stem valves, trim, and actuation components.
- Create product renderings of varying complexity.
- Assist in the design of products following internal guidelines, standards, and procedures.
- Check 3D models and drawings of varying complexities to comply with ASME Y14.5 GD&T 2009 standard.
- Lead meetings with engineering & manufacturing to develop template drawings for production.
- Originate and assist with the completion of engineering change requests.
- Setup and maintain part numbers and other engineering items.
- Assist with preparation for project meetings, design reviews, and related activities.
- Create documents, best practices, and standards.
- An Associate’s degree in a CAD-related field or a degree in industrial technology, manufacturing technology, mechanical engineering, industrial design, or a similar field.
- Proficiency in parametric modeling software.
- Advanced surface modeling and complex blending skills.
- General understanding of material properties (primarily metals).
- Knowledge of GD&T (symbology).
- High level of digital literacy and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with specialty design modules such as Simulation, Composer, Drive Works, Solid Works PDM.
- Solid Works Certification - CSWE (Certified Solid Works Expert).
- In-depth understanding of castings, forgings, and stampings.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as supply chain, manufacturing, & quality.
