Job Summary
Senior Safety Consultant responsible for conducting safety activities, evaluations, and incident reviews to support business units and the company in achieving safety goals. The position assesses compliance of company operations with safety regulations and assists in developing company safety policy and procedures. It prepares and conducts safety training and education, works with other departments to ensure proper communication of safety concerns, and primarily supports the company’s generation facilities at two combined cycle gas‑fired power plants.
Responsibilities- Conduct corporate and energy operations business units’ hazard identification activities, including identifying conditions, methods, or processes that could cause damage or injury to people or property.
- Perform visual inspections, review documentation, interview or inquire, conduct literature searches, and apply hazard analysis methods and system safety analysis.
- Organize and conduct hazard evaluations and compare hazard levels to standards; may include safety testing of equipment or processes and computations to establish hazard or risk levels.
- Conduct investigations of complaints, exposures, accidents, incidents, injuries, illnesses, and review related standards.
- Review safety practices and work processes to identify safest ways to perform work and implement direct controls to prevent injuries or fatalities.
- Interact with local safety leadership teams, provide guidance to reduce injuries.
- Develop safety communications using audio, audiovisual, printed material, and other media.
- Assist in selection and preparation of safety information for different audiences to ensure understanding and application.
- Track actual safety performance, provide periodic updates, and prepare safety performance metrics and budget forecasts, including OSHA recordkeeping.
- Perform industrial hygiene monitoring and evaluate environmental exposures to workplace hazards (indoor air quality, chemical management, heat illness prevention, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, blood borne pathogens, asbestos, lead).
Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in safety, industrial hygiene, physical or natural sciences, or related area.
Preferred Certification- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Certified Utility Safety Administrator (CUSA)
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Five (5) years of experience in safety, industrial hygiene, emergency management, safety management, or compliance planning. Experience with incident investigations utilizing a learning team model.

- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with government agencies, utility groups, and other industries.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate complex safety regulations and management systems.
- Proactive identification of safety issues, development of proposed solutions, and effective communication of issues and solutions to multiple employee levels.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer software programs (e.g., email, word processing, spreadsheet, project management).
- Analytical skills and ability to perform accurate in-depth analysis and develop statistical charts and graphs.

$85,000 – $116,000 annually. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on responsibilities, experience, skill set, internal pay equity, and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
