Responsibilities- Provide advanced patient care in the Emergency Department, supporting both routine and critical care situations.
- Assist with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) interventions and emergency response procedures.
- Perform patient assessments including triage, collecting medical history, and evaluating physical and psychosocial needs.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and advanced pharmacological treatments within scope of practice.
- Support advanced procedures including airway management, ventilator support, and trauma care.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to implement and adjust patient care plans.
- Document patient care and treatments accurately in the electronic health record.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding treatments, procedures, and discharge instructions.
- Support team development by mentoring new staff, assisting with training, and participating in professional growth opportunities.
Required:
- Completion of an accredited Paramedic Program with a Critical Care Paramedic Endorsement through the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH)
- Minimum of three years’ experience on a paramedic ground ambulance service or related experience.
- Possess a current a Paramedic license in the State of Iowa with a Critical Care Paramedic Endorsement.
Preferred:
- Three to five years’ experience on a paramedic ground ambulance service or related experience.
