Non-Certified Nursing Aide - Iowa Veterans Home

Salary: $40,414.40 – $57,324.80 annually

Overview

We are looking for compassionate caregivers to serve as non-certified nursing aides at the Iowa Veterans Home. Candidates will complete a 76‑hour on‑site CNA certification course and may advance to an in‑person interview and unpaid job shadow.

Shift & Schedule

Positions are available for an evening shift (core hours 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.) and a night shift (core hours 8:15 p.m.–6:15 a.m.), with staff required to work every other weekend.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic personal care of residents in accordance with each resident’s plan of care.
  • Attend the 76‑hour CNA certification course, including lab and clinical sections, onsite at the facility.
  • Participate in a two‑part interview process: an in‑person interview followed by an unpaid job shadow within the nursing units.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary care teams to support resident well‑being.
Qualifications
  • No specific education or experience is required for entry; commitment to caring for veterans is essential.
  • Willingness to complete the required CNA certification training.
  • For designated positions, possession of a Commercial Driver’s License or Chauffeur License with endorsements may be required.
  • All applicants must pass a criminal background check, including adult abuse and child abuse checks.
