Do you have a passion for caring for our nation’s veterans and want to enter the healthcare field but do not currently hold a C.N.A certificate? The Iowa Veterans Home offers a new program just for you!

We will provide the opportunity to become a certified CNA through a 76‑hour course conducted on site at the Iowa Veterans Home, including completed lab and clinical sections. Current openings include evening shift (core hours 2:00 pm–10:30 pm) and night shift (core hours 8:15 pm–6:15 am), with work every other weekend.

The program requires a two‑part interview process. Part one is an in‑person interview. Selected candidates are scheduled for part two, an unpaid job shadow within the nursing units. Completion of the shadow leads to an evaluation for qualification.

Starting Pay: $19.43 per hour.
