American Traveler is hiring an RN
- Med/Surg Tele for a night shift position requiring active Iowa or compact RN licensure and 24 months of Med/Surg-Tele experience.
- 16-bed hospital unit with a 5:1 patient ratio
- Patient population includes telemetry and post-op surgical patients (ortho and general surgery)
- Responsible for reading and measuring telemetry strips
- Utilizes Epic EMR for charting
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- No on-call requirements
- Required to work every 3rd weekend, including holiday rotation if scheduled
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
- Minimum 24 months of Med/Surg and/or Med/Surg-Tele experience in a hospital or medical center setting required
- Ortho and general surgery care experience required
- Epic EMR charting experience required
- Drip management experience required:
Insulin, Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone - Telemetry experience preferred
- Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred
- Valid driver's license or proof of permanent residency required for consideration
- First-time travelers accepted with minimum 24 months of current nursing experience
- Provide direct patient care to telemetry and post-op surgical patients, including ortho and general surgery cases
- Monitor, read, and measure telemetry strips as part of daily responsibilities
- Manage medication drips including Insulin, Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone
- Holiday coverage required, with travelers expected to work 2 of 3 winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving)
- Limited time-off requests permitted during peak holiday periods (11/26-11/30 and 12/23-1/2)
