Job Title

Sushi Clerk (Department: Hy-Chi)

Requirements for applicants

Must be 18+ and possess a high school diploma or equivalent, Food Safety Certification, and at least six months of similar or related experience.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
  • Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee’s designated department or elsewhere in the store.
  • Make an effort to learn customers’ names and address them by name whenever possible.
  • Assist customers by escorting them to the products they are looking for, securing products that are out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, making note of and passing along customer suggestions or requests, performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service, including taking customer orders.
  • Takes customer orders at the Chinese Express counter.
  • Work with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
  • Review orders for the day.
  • Practice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and neat.
  • Review the status and appearance of food for freshness.
  • Ensure that an adequate food supply is ready and on hand and develop or follow a production list.
  • Anticipate product needs for the department on a daily basis.
  • Prepare, finish, and replenish product as necessary; pull product from cooler/freezer for preparation.
  • Check in product and put product away.
  • Remove trash in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines.
  • Report to work when scheduled and on time.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Wash dishes as necessary.
  • Order product and supplies as necessary.
  • Price product for customers as necessary.
  • Deliver orders as needed.
  • Assist in other areas of store as needed.
  • Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics
  • Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions; deal with a few concrete variables.
  • Ability to do simple addition and subtraction; copy figures, count and record.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies orally or in writing.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; up to 20 pounds frequently; and 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • Visual requirements include vision from 20 inches or less to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, and field of vision.
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions

This position is continually exposed to raw fish, flour, dust, noise, and temperature extremes, with occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals or solvents. It is a fast‑paced work environment with significant pressure.
