RTR is offering a $5,000 Sign on Bonus for New Full Time LPN Hires!

Participate as member of the Residential team providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Provide general nursing care to individuals in Residential Services by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Explains procedures and treatments to individuals to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.
  • Administers prescribed medication and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques and MAP administration policies.
  • Observes individuals, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of individual’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations and assess condition of individuals.
  • Responds to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
  • Instructs the staff as needed to provide care, welfare, safety and security to individuals.
  • Assists Manager in orientation of newly hired staff concerning agency policy and procedures related to individual medical history and support for medical needs.
  • Instructs, supervises and evaluates individuals in all areas of community living as outlined in each support plan and records data on all instructional programs.
  • Maintains valid Driver’s License and provides transportation as required by program.
  • Assists individuals in scheduling and attending medical appointments and documents as assigned by Manager. This may include covering shifts off‑site or any hospital stays.
  • Supports individuals with scheduling and attending social and leisure activities such as family gatherings, religious celebrations, community events, and social gatherings.
  • Maintains residence and yard in clean, orderly condition as outlined by Program Manager, including vacuuming, dusting, cleaning floors, bathrooms, laundry, and keeping lawn clear of trash and debris, and keeping steps, walks, paths and ramps clear.
  • Actively assists and supports individuals with personal care responsibilities, which may include diet, exercise, meal preparation, bathing, shaving, dressing, toileting, etc.
  • Assists and supports individuals with physical direct care, which may include physical or mechanical transfer of individuals from wheelchairs to vans, chairs, or showers, etc.
  • Adheres to all established lines of communication, dresses in a professional manner, and represents a positive and proactive attitude with coworkers, families and referral agencies.
  • Is responsible for writing reports, including daily shift reports, and other required documentation using professional and appropriate documentation skills.
  • Adheres to agency safety standards.
  • Performs additional duties, or substitutes for others as required, including other programs.
  • Adheres to all RTR policies and procedures.
  • Develops and provides all services in accordance with RTR’s philosophies, including staff and Board beliefs.
  • Performs additional duties, or substitutes for others as required.
  • Additional duties may include but are not limited to clearing snow and ice from walkways, vehicles, parking lots and roads using equipment such as shovels and snow blowers while applying de‑icing agents to ensure safety.

Qualifications
  • Must hold a valid Practical Nursing License and related experience and/or training.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and the internet.
  • Successful completion of all state and agency mandated trainings.
  • Must be willing to authorize a Criminal History Background Check (CORI) and release of information concerning Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC), Department of Developmental Services (DDS), and other agencies.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
